Students in Year 8 showing off their winning posters which raise awareness of Meningitis.

Over 120 children in Year 8 at Burnham Grammar School in Buckinghamshire took part in a poster competition, which was organised in conjunction with local pharmaceutical company, Wyeth, a world leader in the development of vaccines against meningitis.  The competition was timed to coincide with World Meningitis Day and was judged recently by Trust Chief Executive, Sue Davie.

Judy Trinder, Schools Corporate Liaison Officer commented on the project :

"The students were really enthusiastic about being involved in this competition.  It gave them a great opportunity to learn about this vital area of health, while at the same time fulfilling one of the project areas required for science as part of the National Curriculum for Year 8".

Asad Parker a year 8 pupil said  "It was fun and I learnt a lot more about Meningitis as we had been studying this topic in health and disease".
